This handsome and beautifully color lithograph from the October, 1898 issue of l'Estampe Moderne depicts a powerful Greek nude carrying an amphora jar in a richly-detailed Mediterranean setting. The figure is set amidst a cornucopia of architectural motifs from an array of time periods, including Beaux Arts statuary featuring other classical figures, a typically French stairway in the background, and an arch leading to a pool or courtyard -- all enriched inwith foliage and exotic fruits. The gold, lavender and muted rose colors give this scene a rich and delicious taste.
