Peace of Versailles Artist: Beach, ChesterNationality: USA Time Period: Dimensions: 2.5" diameter Type of Work: Medal Medium: Silver Price: $500 Plus shipping and insurance Crowded with several elegant figures in low bas relief, this exceptional silver medallion was designed by Chester Beach, one of America's foremost sculptors of the human figure. Celebrating the end of The Great War, in 1919 the American Numismatic Society commissioned Chester Beach to sculpt an ambitious medal with allegorical figures on one side and the palace grounds of Versailles on the other. One side shows three figures: a triumphant nude male figure astride a winged horse, flanked by a nude male holding a sword and female figure in diaphanous dress with a wreath in one hand and a feather plume in the other. The composition is very strong and the figures noble and dignified. To Order: Click on the "Add to Cart" button above. You will be redirected to use PayPal payment solutions.
