Russian Heads

After years of relative obscurity, Frederick Weinberg's creations are becoming increasingly popular today, in part because his stylized figural sculptures are icons of 1950s design. Based in Philadelphia, Weinberg's inventiveness and energy produced a vast range of decorative objects and lighting fixtures in plaster, bent wire, brass and other materials from the 1940s through the 1960s. This pair of plaster sculptures are early examples of his work, probably from the 1940s.
