Born in Lithuania and educated in Russia, Lovet-Lorski brought the refined, attenuated figural art of France to America by the age of 26. His lithographs featuring tall, hyper-slender female and male figures constitute his best-known creations, but he produced many fine sculptures, paintings and drawings over his long career as well. This drawing in crayon and watercolor, dating from Lovet-Lorski's days in Paris, offers an especially iconic depiction of the stylized Art Deco nude, high-stepping and arch.
