Woodstock Society of Chambers Artist: Pike, JohnNationality: USA Time Period: 1951 Dimensions: 10" high x 8" wide Type of Work: Drawing Medium: Drawing Price: $1,100 Plus shipping and insurance This entirely charming and whimsical work -- complete with musical instruments hanging from lines of rope, and a smiling moon facing Art Deco trees -- was drawn by John Pike to mark an obscure event dubbed the "Woodstock Society of Chambers" in the spring of 1951. Although it took place for several years, and must have involved drinking and music, the Society of Chambers may have been a private affair for artists only, because it seems to have been lost to history. Pike is best known today for his watercolor paintings, but this work demonstrates his flair for concise, beautiful drawing. To Order: Click on the "Add to Cart" button above.
