Two Boys Fishing Artist: Hibbard, Frederick ClevelandNationality: USA Time Period: 1927 Dimensions: 6" high x 3.5" wide x 3.5" deep Type of Work: Sculpture Medium: Bronze Price: Upon request Plus shipping and insurance This pair of bronze bookends was scupted to commemorate the opening of The Stevens Hotel on May 2nd, 1927 in Chicago, trumpeted as the "World’s Greatest Hotel," and certainly the largest. (The Stevens Hotel was later acquired by Conrad Hilton and is now The Hilton Chicago.) One of three commemorative sculptures issued by the hotel in 1927, Hibbard's design was taken from his large, several-tiered fountain located in the hotel's grand stairhall (since removed), and was modeled after James Stevens, young son of the hotel's original owners. Hibbard exhibited widely between 1903 and 1943, and his work can be found in many universities, libraries and parks across the nation. To Order: Click on the "Add to Cart" button above.
