Perhaps the most important living artist in Switzerland, Hans Erni is renowned for his drawings, paintings and graphic works for postage stamps and Olympic posters, and his many paintings, works on paper and sculptures created over a half century. This drawing, executed in ink on Japan paper, depicts a dense, overlapping series of figures, and yet its sensuosity is direct and compelling. Entitled "Odysse," it is strongly reminiscent of the classical drawings and paintings of Picasso and his contemporaries in the first half of the 20th century.
