Created in 1956 from molded fiberglass patinated to imitate cast bronze. Blai was an important sculptor who studied in Kiev, St. Petersburg, Munich and Paris before settling in America in 1917. He cofounded and directed the Tyler School of Art, now part of Temple University, in 1935, and sculpted many realistic, stylized and experimental figural works over a career spanning several decades.
