This virtuosic pen-and-ink drawing shows several gods cavorting with wild-maned horses in an Art Deco galaxy. All the figures are perfectly stylized as if parading across a classical frieze, yet the scene is highly theatrical and energized. The artist, who did not sign his work, was a master of his medium, contrasting pitch-black areas of background with his snowy figures, and using carefully-applied stippling to convey shadow and nuance.
